The Client / Customer Portal is new from Version 1.5+. But what does it do?
The Customer Portal creates a Link between a WordPress User and Your CRM Customer Record
OK, but what does that mean?
It means that if you already have WordPress Users on your website, Zero BS CRM will detect them and show you their User ID (see the Customer Portal link at the top right) this is saying that this customer (identified by email) has a WordPress User Account.
No User Account Exists?
If there isn’t a user account, then Zero BS CRM will give you the option to generate one.
- Save User Info
- Generate New User
Once you’ve generated a new user, Zero BS CRM will send an email to that user with login details to their client portal.
Here’s how the email looks
Wicked. So we’re well on the way to utilising the Customer Portal functionality for our ZBS Customers. But how does it look? Well it creates a login area for your users. Like shown below
Client Portal Shortcode
The Client Portal, from version 2.87+ of Zero BS CRM runs from the following shortcode
[zerobscrm_clientportal]
When installing, Zero BS CRM will create a page with the title Client Portal, and the slug ‘clients’. You can edit this and give the Portal any slug you like.
Extending the Client Portal
With Client Portal Pro, you can modify the tabs, endpoints and icons for your client portal. It also comes with additional tabs, pre made, which power up your Portal such as
- Display Tasks related to your contact, with “Add to Calendar” links for them
- Show Tickets related to your contact, if using our Awesome Support Connector
- Allow Files to be downloaded that are displayed on the Portal for your contact
You can read more about Client Portal Pro here.

Single Invoice View
Using the Client Portal is especially suited for invoices. You send your customer a link to the client portal, they log in and can see all of their invoices (and whether they are paid or not) all in one place.
With the Invoicing Pro extension you can even accept payment online using PayPal or Stripe

Frequently Asked Questions
No. We didn’t want to add extra bloat to the CRM and generate new WordPress users with every addition of a customer (or lead) with the client portal you should be using it in a way that once you’ve converted a lead to a customer and issued them an invoice. Generate their client portal at that point in time.
You sure can. If you don’t invoice your clients / customers and don’t want to have the client portal active, you can disable it under the ‘Extensions’ tab of the Zero BS CRM settings.
If your client forgets their password, you can generate them a new one from the WordPress Users panel. Any user that has been generated for the sole use of the client portal can be filtered down by clicked on the Zero BS CRM Customer Role in the admin menu. You can also search using email.
Yes. The password is a randomly generated strong password. No ‘ZBSCRMROCKS’ type passwords here.
